Overview
Doctoral ColloquiumWe invite PhD students and candidates to present their work-in-progress or preliminary results and gain feedback from an international and renowned audience of researchers and developers in the pervasive computing field. Doctoral students who have progressed far enough in their research to have an idea paper and structured proposal, but will not be defending their dissertation in the next 6 months are invited to submit a thesis position paper. This 6-month stipulation is set in place because so that students have time to incorporate the DC advice and suggestions into their thesis research. Submissions will be reviewed by international experts and based on these reviews, candidates for the doctoral colloquium will be selected. Accepted DC submissions will be published in the adjunct proceedings of Pervasive 2007, also available at the website. Learn more about this call here. |
DemonstrationsResearch Demonstrators offer a unique opportunity to showcase research prototypes, and to discuss them with an international audience of experts in pervasive computing. To promote this, Pervasive 2008 is seeking interesting and engaging demonstrations of pervasive computing technologies. Proposers are invited to submit Research Demonstrations under the general topics of the conference. Relevant topics include (but are not limited to) the following:

VideosVideos are an effective tool to showcase research results, to inspire other researchers, and to educate the general public about the latest developments in Pervasive Computing. With the category of Research Videos, Pervasive 2008 seeks research contributions, future visions, project descriptions, and concepts of pervasive computing technologies, systems and applications. The conference particularly values practical experience with design, deployment and use of pervasive systems and applications, and investigation of exciting and inspiring ideas and technologies. Accepted videos will be shown in a special video session at Pervasive 2008. We also plan to have video proceedings on CD-ROM. The accompanying short paper will be published in the adjunct proceedings of Pervasive 2008 which will be available in printed form as well as electronically on the conference web-site. Late Breaking ResultsWithin the category of Late Breaking Results, PERVASIVE 2008 provides researchers the opportunity to present their results in three ways, as a poster, published paper and short ‘1 minute madness’. We welcome contributions on original and recent research findings, early stage research, fundamental results, basic research contributions and novel ideas in the area of pervasive computing technologies, systems, and application. Authors are invited to submit late breaking results papers to be peer reviewed, which if accepted will be published in the Adjunct Proceedings of PERVASIVE 2008 by the OCG. Authors of accepted late breaking results papers will present a poster at a dedicated conference poster session. Learn more about this call here. |
Technical PapersWe solicit high quality technical papers that describe original and unpublished research on mobile and pervasive computing. The papers should not be submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. The papers should describe significant and transferable results that advance the state of the art in pervasive computing. Pervasive’08 conference themes include:
All papers will be peer-reviewed by members of the Pervasive 2008 program committee and by additional expert reviewers from relevant research communities. Papers accepted for PERVASIVE 2008 will be published in Lecture Notes in Computer Science and should be formatted according to the Springer-Verlag LNCS style. We solicit papers of up to 15 pages. All paper submissions will be treated as full papers but it is important that their length is appropriate for their content. All paper submissions will be handled electronically and the submission process is described at here. Learn more about this call here. |
Workshop ProposalsWorkshops provide a forum for people to discuss areas of special interest within pervasive computing with like-minded researchers and practitioners. Workshops afford the participants the opportunity to examine an area with a selected focus in an open environment for the free exchange of views. The day-long workshops will be held prior to the main conference on Monday, May 19, 2008 or right after on Thursday, May 22, 2008. We solicit workshops in all areas related to Pervasive Computing. In particular we would like to encourage workshops focused on new and emerging research directions, novel and highly innovative themes, real-world topics including industrial and medical issues, system or interaction topics and interdisciplinary themes. The workshop proposal should be a maximum of 3 pages. Learn more about this call here. |
